Sobradillo Astronomical Observatory
Discover the beauty of the star-filled sky
Welcome to the Sobradillo Astronomical Observatory, located in the picturesque Sayaguese village of Sobradillo de Palomares, in the province of Zamora.
This special site, with coordinates 41.372424, -5.880773 UTM30 (41º22’20” North, 5º52’50” West), offers a unique, low light pollution environment, ideal for astronomical observation, just a 20-minute drive from the city of Zamora (Spain).

Registered under code Z29 by the International Astronomical Union (I.A.U.), the observatory is the result of a private initiative driven by a passion for astronomy and the preservation of dark skies. Its construction and equipment have been made possible through private funding, without any public subsidies. However, we are actively working to encourage local authorities to take action against light pollution, promoting the inalienable right to enjoy a clean, starry night sky, as recognized by UNESCO.
